CapsuleComputers "Trackmania 2 Canyon has been a pleasure to discover. A few months ago I had never heard of this series; now it’s my favourite racer. The stripped back style probably won’t get the Gran Turismo diehards going and it could use a few tutorials, but if you want fun, fast arcade racing then you could do no wrong picking this up – and it’s only $24.99 US. A bargain if there ever was one." Read Full Review | 95/100 |
Eurogamer It's a fitting time of year to release TrackMania 2: Canyon, a game in which the skies are an ocean blue and prairie clouds hang low in the sky. Cold, fresh and breezy, it's a liberating environment upon which to unleash the imaginations of a community hardened by the devilish tracks crafted since the release of TrackMania nearly eight years ago. Ironhammers At it’s heart, what we have here is certainly a Trackmania title. The basic premise, and even the menus are still very reminiscent of what we’ve seen in the past. While navigating these menus is still a little clunky, those who’ve played Nations will feel at home immediately. The same goes for the game modes; we’ve got the short single player, challenge-like circuits in there to become accustomed to the game — which I have to say, are brilliantly implemented so as to offer training for all aspects — and the multiplayer aspect, which sees you racing with other players in a bid to achieve the fastest lap times during a set time limit. MMGN Developers know when they have a good thing going; the last Trackmania title was released in 2008 and as of December last year there was still 700,000 users logging on, so how do you follow that up with a worthy sequel? Rather than breaking the mold Trackmania 2: Canyon simply brings forth a breath of fresh air to give the franchise a new coat of paint. Is it worth the price of admission? Read Full Review | 85/100 |

Strategy Informer "There is an old saying that everybody knows, yet no-one is aware of exactly where it came from: 'If it ain't broken, don't fix it'. This saying is applied to the world of video games constantly, be it the latest Modern Warfare or Uncharted - but it's arguable that it's no more true than in racing games". The Digital Fix The Trackmania series is something of an anomaly in the racing game world. At a time when realism, in both feel and physics, are constantly pushed to the boundaries of the genuine racing experience; Trackmania took a step back and decided that all players really want is to build crazy tracks and have fun. ZTGD Ubisoft want us all to live on the same planet, Maniaplanet!
