GameInfo: Minecraft is a game about placing blocks to build anything you can imagine. At night monsters come out, make sure to build a shelter before that happens.
The game is focused on creativity and building, allowing players to build constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D world. The game has two variants – free Classic and paid Beta. Classic is focused entirely on construction with unlimited material supply, whereas Beta has two modes: Survival requires players to acquire resources themselves and keep their health and hunger up, whereas in Creative the player has an unlimited supply of resources. Both Beta modes contain many more features than Classic, as well as the addition of mobs. The gameplay is heavily inspired by Infiniminer by Zachtronics Industries, and Dwarf Fortress by Bay 12 Games.
Genre: First person, sandbox

Gamer Nation We don’t take giving perfect 10′s easy here at Gamer Nation. There’s been sleepless nights and heated arguments. But here it is; our first 10. Because this is a game that is a triumph of users and creators collaborating to make something special, a game which inspires great things from even the most mediocre of us, a game that can genuinely be enjoyed by people from all ages (because you never truly grow out of Lego). If that game doesn’t deserve a 10, then frankly nothing does. Nothing. survive." Read Full Review http://gamernation.co.uk/review/minecraft/ | 100/100 |

Eurogamer "How would you review Tetris, if you were reviewing it today? “The puzzling is very tight, and the soundtrack is catchy.” That’s the thing – Tetris is so much more than that by now, but it’s almost impossible to disassociate it from its cultural resonance. Minecraft, the free-form building and survival game, hasn’t yet seeped into the global consciousness to the same degree, but it has become something far more than a mere game.“ Read Full Review http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-11-18-minecraft-review | 100/100 |
Beefjack More than anything, Minecraft has become what we perceived it could be: like the worlds of Survival mode, it has grown to accommodate us. Notch provided the tools, but we built the cathedrals. So, developers and players alike, pat yourself on the back for the greatest game you’re ever likely to have a hand in making. OMGN A new genre that hasn't fully established a name for itself is soon becoming a new craze on the PC platform. It's for anyone who has ever played with Legos or MegaBloks, or simply any gamer looking for something new. At heart, Minecraft is a first-person sandbox game, similar FPS controls. It's a game about building and surviving. It's about collecting. It's also about blocks. Lots and lots of blocks. The land is made of blocks. Leaves are made... Redhead "Minecraft is an open world adventure game with corny, cube-based graphics. There are no quests. There is no story line. There is no objective. There’s the main charcter, you, and there is one thing to do: survive." Read Full Review http://www.redheadreviews.net/2011/11/minecraft-coming-out-of-beta-and-into.html | 75/100 |
