Bit-Tech "You can initially approach Trine 2 in two different ways, with the main variable being whether or not you’ve played the original game before or not. If you haven’t played the first Trine then your immediate reaction will probably be a confused expulsion of vowel sounds, followed by some comment about how gorgeous Trine 2 looks. JustPushStart Trine 2 shows us what a good game should be like. The game offers level design to envy, an amazing soundtrack that fits the game perfectly, extremely well-polished gameplay and an enjoyable cooperative mode that will keep you engaged. This is one of the games that you don’t want to miss, especially if you are a fan of the genre, and even if you are not. Read Full Review | 90/100 |
MEGamers Trine 2 is one of those precious games that you can’t help but fall in love with after just a few minutes with it. With some truly amazing level design and art styles, coupled with a simple gameplay mechanic, Trine 2 is a must try for any side-scrolling fans, or really just anyone who wants to have some fun with a rather unique adventure game. VGW If the sumptuous visuals of Frozenbyte’s Trine 2 were a meal, it would be the kind of opulent feast you push back from with a satisfied grin, full to bursting. A riot of color and obsessively fine detail, yet never cluttered or hard to visually negotiate, Trine 2 is first and foremost a painterly triumph of artistic game design. Whether the environment is a lush jungle, a moody cavern, or a beach at sunset, the art will never cease to impress. Read Full Review | 90/100 |
AusGamers The original Trine was welcome relief when it arrived back in 2009. Combining what made games like The Lost Vikings challenging with a delicious visual palette made for an interesting, if short, romp through a dangerous kingdom. The success of the first title has obviously spawned a much anticipated sequel, and what’s been provided is basically what fans wanted; more of the same. Read Full Review | 90/100 |
zConnection Trine 2 is a game that is going to prove once and for all that Trine is a series of which people should take notice, and this time, with releases on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, nobody is going to be left out. Offering a more accessible version of similar platform games like LIMBO or Braid, but with the added advantage of nicer graphics and co-op play, I can think of absolutely no reason why you shouldn’t try this out. Trine 2 is an absolute masterpiece of the senses and Frozenbyte remain a developer to watch. Read Full Review | 85/100 |
Leviathyn Wizard is overpowered. Those three words more or less defined my experience with the first Trine. Recently, I checked to see if that phrase would still ring true for the newer, shinier sequel, Trine 2, and it was with mixed feelings that I discovered… yes, it more or less is. C&G Magazine "The first Trine was a nifty little throwback to classic co-op platform games that filtered its inspirations through a modern day physics engine. Trine 2 is a nifty little throwback to Trine that, in seeking to advance its formula, unfortunately ends up obscuring what made the first game so interesting." Read Full Review | 65/100 |
