It’s been rumoured for a while and now Nvidia's latest flagship GPU is here and it's called the GeForce GTX 980 Ti, but how good is it and what are the full capabilities of it? Is it really worth the hype people are placing on it, well let’s see. Firstly according to Nvidia the GTX 980 Ti will deliver an unbeatable 4K virtual reality experience and is up to 3 times faster compared to one its predecessors the GTX680, exactly what gamers want to hear. Nvidia also go on to say that it’s a beefier version of the prior flagship the GTX 980, but also includes some of the monster Titan X's power without paying the huge price.
But what about specs that’s what us gamers want to know, well the 980 Ti is equipped with a GM200-310 GPU with 2816 parallel processing CUDA cores and 176 texture units, allowing it to be powerful enough to drive the most demanding next gen games at 4K. Furthermore with the base clock of the 980 TI set to 1000 MHz and boost clock to 1076 MHz which should easily go higher it has the impressive specs to please gamers. Alongside this Nvidia have supercharged all the GTX 900 series Maxwell GPU’s with DX12 features that unlock the full promise of the new API, enabling developers to do more with their games on Maxwell then on any other GPU. With specs like this in my opinion the 980 Ti is not only great for present gaming but will function impressively for gaming in the future, it’s definitely built to last.
Like me a lot of gamers will want to compare the 980 Ti against the Titan X and the only major big difference is memory, as the 980 Ti features 6GB unlike the Titan X which has dual sided memory modules giving it double the capacity at 12GB, but for value overall the 980 Ti is far superior. Even more encouraging NVIDIA have claimed the memory bandwidth of the 980 Ti is 50 percent faster than its predecessor, which makes a big difference when throwing huge textures around. On the whole Nvidia have created a very powerful new flagship GPU card for all types of gamers, which will run faster, look better and will be quiet and cool in operation so if you want to experience true next gen gaming you have to consider the 980 Ti!
